EFIS, Part 2

Rather than purchasing two Dynon wiring harnesses at $80 apiece, I decided to make my own. I bought the appropriate D-Sub connectors and some 22 AWG wire and went to work. The left-most connector (in this picture) is the EFIS harness, with connections such as power, remote compass, and serial data. The middle connector is the main EMS harness, with connections such as oil temp and pressure, fuel level and pressure, ammeter, and tachometer. The right-hand connector is for the CHT and EGT thermocouples.

The remote compass is supposed to be mounted as far away from metallic objects as possible, so I chose the roof of the fuselage, about halfway between the wing and the tail.

Total Time: 21.0 hrs.
