Well, here are the finished seats. Don't they look cool? Too bad I won't be using them. Unfortunately, they're too big. I tried cutting them down a little bit, but I don't think they're going to work. Sitting in them (even without any upholstery) makes me feel too close to the instrument panel, and I feel as if my knees are going to get skinned. Getting in and out is problematic, as well. I've already cut an inch or so off the front, and even cut a notch in the back so that they would fit over the bottom part of bulkhead #3. This helped a little bit, but not enough, and now my head comes really close to hitting the top of bulkhead #3. (In fact, I had to cut a couple inches off the top of the headrest to clear the top of bulkhead #3.)

The next obvious step would be to cut a couple of inches off the bottom, but that would mean losing a significant part of the frame, and I'm not even sure that would help. (They're not upholstered yet, remember?) The frustrating thing about these seats (beasides the obvious, surprising amount of time spent on them) is that, due to the way they go together, I couldn't even try them out until they were pretty much completed. Oh, and one more thing making my decision even easier. These suckers are surprisingly heavy. (14 pounds each!) So, now I'm looking through those books by Tony Bingelis, trying to come up with some new ideas.
